Following the battle to capture the camp in Si Hkam Gyi village of Mansi Township in Kachin State, the KIA joint forces found around 70 bodies of junta soldiers killed during the battle, according to the joint forces.

After the capture of the Si Hkam Gyi camp on 19 February, the joint force of KIA, KPDF, Arakan Army (AA) and Shwegu-LPDF carried out a clearance operation. The joint force seized around 70 bodies of junta soldiers and ammunition which can fill a 10-wheeled vehicle in the camp, an official of Shwegu-LPDF said.

“We found many corpses inside and outside the hilltop camp. According to my estimate, more than 60-70 junta soldiers were killed. In addition, the joint forces carried out drone attacks on the fleeing soldiers. More corpses were found in the place located about two furlongs from the camp,” he said.

A total of more than 70 bodies of soldiers killed in the fighting —48 inside the camp and the rest killed in the drone attack near the hilltop—were found, an official of the LPDF said.

Si Hkam Gyi is a big military camp where around 200 junta soldiers who fled to Si Hkam Gyi camp after an attack on the Man Wein Gyi camp in Shwegu Township and the soldiers who fled from Moemake of Shan State, were stationed.

Junta soldiers have fled to Namlim Pa after the attack on Si Hkam Gyi camp, said an official of the Shwegu LPDF.

“We blocked them from Shwegu and Bhamo. We opened Namlim Pa alone. They (junta) fired heavy shells towards the mountain in Namlim Pa with 120-mm howitzers. They retreated in the same direction they fired,” the official said.

During the area clearance operation, the joint force seized a variety of small and big arms, bullets and grenades which can fill a 10-wheeled truck, the official of Shwegu LPDF said.

In the battle to capture Si Hkam Gyi, more than 70 junta soldiers were killed while nine members from the KIA joint force—eight from Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) and one company commander lost their live and 10 others—were wounded, according to the joint force.
