Bombing kills two civilians in Naungkan village in Banmauk Township

Two civilians were killed by the military council’s bombing in Naungkan village in Banmauk Township, at 9.15 pm on 26 May.

The bombing killed U Ba Thaung, 66 and Ma Sandar Win, 26 from Naungkan village.

The military council’s jet fighter dropped three bombs. Two bombs landed on the pagoda hill and one in Naungkan village.

A combined force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) arrived in five villages in the west of Banmauk in April. The military council dropped bombs assuming that the combined force may present there, according to locals.

Mannar, Naungkan, Parpyinkham, Waymankaw and Naungkwat villages are located in the western part of Banmauk.

The military council conducted at least three airstrikes in the five-day battle with a combined force of the KIA and the PDF in the west of Banmauk.
