Five wounded in mine attack on two passenger buses in Tanintharyi

Five migrant workers were wounded in a mine attack on two passenger buses leaving for Thailand on Myeik-Mawtaung road near Lathar village in Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, according to locals.

On the evening of 7 May, the combined force mistakenly shot two passenger buses carrying over 30 migrant workers while heading from Myeik to Mawtaung. One woman and four men were wounded in the mine attack.

The information officer of Tanintharyi Township PDF said he feels very sorry about the mistaken shooting and apologized to those who have been hurt.

The Tanintharyi Township PDF has called on the passenger buses running on the roads in Tanintharyi Region to abide by the rules issued by the PDFs without fail.

Since the morning of 8 May, the military council has tightened security and inspection on Myeik-Mawtaung road.

On 1 April, two people including one child were killed and four others wounded in a mine attack on a passenger bus near Laetawyar village in Tanintharyi Township.
