Over 30,000 IDPs in Tanintharyi Region are in urgent need of shelters as the monsoon season is going to set in, officials of Dawna-Tanintharyi Refugee Support Group told the Than Lwin Times.

Over 30,000 locals are taking shelter in forests and IDP camps in Tanintharyi Region due to the military council’s artillery shelling into the villages following the coup.

The IDPs need to repair their damaged temporary tents for the monsoon season.

The officials of Dawna-Tanintharyi Refugee Support Group have urged relevant organizations and the public to make donations for the IDPs as much as they can.

In addition to rations and medicine, the IDPs are in need of humanitarian aid for the coming monsoon season.

More people are taking shelter in forests and garden lands rather than the IDPs camps as they are at risk of the military council’s heavy shelling and airstrikes.

There are over 30,000 IDPs in Dawei, Launglon, Palaw and Tanintharyi Townships of Tanintharyi Region. Palaw Township sees the highest number of IDPs.
