The views of local defense forces over battles in Sagaing Region

The military council is conducting offensive operations in Sagaing Region with the use of excessive forces. The military council is burning the houses in the villages. The following is the collection of the views of local defense forces which are conducting offensive with the use of excessive forces in Sagaing Region.

The military council mainly targets Sagaing Region. The reason is our region makes more resistance against the military council. The military’s ambition is to burn and destroy the regions which make resistance. The military council destroys our Htigyaing a lot and even conducts airstrikes. The military aims to crush the persons who revolutionize it. The military doesn’t take account of the public. The military wants to control all regions. The military wants the people to accept the coup. The military is cruel to the dissidents as the people don’t accept it. However, all our people show opposition to the military’s cruelty and coup through demonstration and resistance. I think the military mainly targets the revolutionary areas.

Sagaing region sees the strongest armed resistance. Almost all revolutionary forces which defy the military dictator have gathered in Sagaing Region. The gathering of revolutionary forces amounts to putting heavy pressure on the military. Revolutionary forces are working to create a government in Sagaing Region.

The military council staged a coup in February as the military think that the coup can be staged easily and there is nothing they dare not do. However, the military council cannot govern the country well till date. The military council has already known that the National Unity Government (NUG) is trying to enable Sagaing Region to become a liberated area. The military has assumed that there may be the final battles after the fall of Sagaing Region. So, the military burned down the villages in Sagaing Region inhumanly due to its fear. The military threatens the public with the intention of causing fear. So, the military is carrying out clearance operations in Sagaing Region following heavy pressure.

I think there are two kinds of pressure. The first point is we are making military operations. The military thinks that our military operations are being carried out with the help of the northern alliance group especially. The military will see the bullets we are using. The military will assume that we get the assistance from the northern alliance. The military-backed PyuSawHtee also puts pressure on the army. In Particular, we attack PyuSawHtee so as to get experience. We captured the camps of PyuSawHtee which is a weak target of the military council. We can get arms from the PyuSawHtee. At the request of the military-backed PyuSawHtee, PyuSawHtee members themselves have no courage to enter a village and have no military tactics. PyuSawHtee has no qualification to lead a battle. A military column burned the villages with the help of PyuSawHtee. The military’s oppression in Sagaing Region may be linked to two pressures. The first is the military itself knows that the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) get assistance from the northern alliance. The second is the military-backed PyuSawHtee’s request.

The reason why the military council can carry out attacks easily is that our defense forces are not in a position to conduct a counterattack. We have to take account of the public. The military council carried out indiscriminate attacks. We cannot do that. We find it difficult to do. The military council itself has known it. We took up arms after the coup. The military council has been engaging in the battles for around 60 years. They have been systematically trained. The soldiers have to obey superior orders without fail. So I think the military pressures us as we have no strength. There are news leaks from the above, about the arming of battalions. Soon the military carried out attacks which may lead to the genocide. Such an incident was found in Ayardaw and Myinmu once. Due to the news leaks about arming, the junta soldiers shot and killed the people they saw. That’s why the military put more pressure on Sagaing Region.
