A male teacher was killed in the junta’s aerial bombardment of a school in Lay Taing Sin village in Pakokku Township of Magway Region, according to local residents.

On the morning of 13 March, the military council bombarded the school and attacked it with machine guns, local residents said.

“The military fired shots at the school with machine guns after dropping bombs three times. A class room was destroyed,” a local said.

According to local residents, the military council bombarded the school while the school was closed and Township People’s Administration Body and People’s Defense Force (PDF) were holding a meeting with the school teachers.

The one killed in the aerial bombardment is computer teacher U Sein Min Htike. A villager was also seriouly wounded in the attack.

The junta’s bombardment destroyed school buildings and a vehicle, locals said.

It is beleived that there was a leakage of the news about the meeting. We can’t trace how the news leaked. The military directly dropped a bomb when it got the news about the meeting, reported Myanmar Now which quoted the official of Pakokku Township People’s Administration Body.

In December last year, two civilians from Thanpayarbin village were killed in the junta’s bombardment of a school in Seikphyu Township in Pakokku District.

Since the coup, the number of civilians killed by the junta’s airstrikes has reached nearly 130, according to the report of local reserach group, Nyan Lynn Thit Analytica.
