Leaders of the The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) held a meeting with members of Namkhan Township Administrative Committee and townelders in Namkham Township of Shan State.

On the morning of 9 February, Brig-Gen Tar Bone Kyaw, General Secretary of the TNLA met the members of Namkhan Township Administrative Committee and town elders at No.3 ward in Namkhan. He explained the resumption of health, education and administrative mechanisms. The event was attended by more than 200 locals, according to the TNLA’s Information Department.

A local man from Namkhan said: “They explained their policies. The TNLA soldiers are standing guard downtown. They have started doing their office work. The people can remove the dead from the household list and add the newborns into the list, at the ward office by showing their original documents. However, the TNLA did not remove them from the household lists. They have only recorded these processes in their books.”

In addition, the TNLA urges the public staying at their relative’s house in Namkhan with loudspeakers to report the guest list to the district administration office, according to Namkhan residents.

“The homeless and opium addicts are arrested and then employed in the municipal works. The TNLA members equipped with guns stand guard when the municipal trucks come to pick up the garbage. Recently, the TNLA arrested the persons involved in cockfighting gambling and asked the detainees to clean the hospital and the main road,” said a local man from Namkhan.

Namkhan residents said that some of those who fled to safety during the fierce fighting in Namkhan township have returned to their homes, but those who fled far away have not yet returned to their homes.

The Brotherhood Alliance announced on 8 February that they are working on border stability, law enforcement and the reconstruction and repairs of damaged roads and bridges in the controlled areas.

On 9 February, a ceremony to celebrate its liberation of Kokang from junta rule and a Chinese New Year, was attended by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army’s (MNDAA) Military Chief Phon Tar Shwin, TNLA’s Chair Lt-Gen Tar Aik Bong and Arakan Army’s (AA) Military Chief Major-General Tun Myat Naing.
