Five school teachers killed in Namhsan bombardment

Five teachers were killed and six others, including four women, wounded in the military council’s aerial bombardment in Myothit village in Namhsan Township of Shan State, without any ground fighting, according to the information department of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

Those killed in the bombardment are: two male teachers and three female teachers from the Ta’ang National Education Committee (TNEC).

At around 2.20 pm on 7 January, the military council dropped bombs twice. The bombs landed on a school and houses in Myothit village, according to the statement.

On 19 November, the military council dropped a 500-ton bomb on Myothit village in Namhsan Township. It resulted in two deaths including a child and the destruction of more than 20 civilian houses, according to local residents.

The military council’s aerial bombardment also damaged a school and seven houses, the statement said.

On 5 January, the military council’s aerial bombardment wounded a civilian and destroyed 14 civilian houses in Mansar village in Namtu Township, according to local residents.

Currently, mobile phone lines and communication networks are cut off in Namhsan Township.

During over two months of Operation 1027, the military council’s shelling and aerial bombardments killed 17 civilians including three women and three children and wounded more than 30 others, according to local residents from Namhsan Township.
