The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Air Chiefs Conference hosted by the military council’s Air Chief who is carrying out targeted airstrikes on civilians including schools, religious building, hospitals, clinics and Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps across the country, was held in Nay Pyi Taw on 13 September 2023. Only air chiefs from Thailand, Brunei, Laos and Vietnam attended the conference in person while the air chiefs of Singapore and the Philippines sent their video messages to the conference. Indonesia which currently holds the rotating chair of ASEAN and Malaysia neither attended the conference in person nor sent their video messages to the conference.
The conference theme titled “ASEAN Air Forces’ Cooperation for A Sustainable Environment” would not discuss the topics on aerial bombardments of schools including the bombardments of a school in Let Yet Kone village in Depayin Township, the deadly airstrikes like the A Nang Pa incident in Kachin State and the incident in Pazigyi village in Kanbalu Township, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and targeted airstrikes on the IDP camps in Karenni (Kayah) State.
This week, the BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor’s weekly news review will highlight aerial bombardments of schools, which were not discussed in the ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference.

အာဆီယံ လေတပ်ညီလာခံတွင် မဆွေးနွေးဖြစ်သော စာသင်ကျောင်းများထက်က ဗုံးကြဲလေယာဉ်များအကြောင်း
စာသင်ကျောင်း၊ ဘာသာရေးအဆောက်အအုံ၊ ဆေးရုံနှင့် ဆေးပေးခန်း၊ စစ်ဘေးရှောင်စခန်းအပါအဝင် ကျေးရွာ၊ မြို့ပြ နေရာဒေသမရွေး အချိန်အခါမရွေး အရပ်သားပြည်သူများကို ပစ်မှတ်ထားကာ လေကြောင်းမှတဆင့် ဗုံးကြဲပစ်ခတ်တိုက်ခိုက်လျက်ရှိသော အာဏာသိမ်းစစ်ကောင်စီ၏ လေတပ်ခေါင်းဆောင် ဦးဆောင်သည့် အာဆီယံလေတပ်ညီလာခံကို ၂၀၂၃ ခုနှစ် စက်တင်ဘာလ ၁၃ ရက်နေ့မှာ နေပြည်တော်တွင် ကျင်းပခဲ့သည်။ ညီလာခံကို ထိုင်း၊ ဘရုနိုင်း၊ ကမ္ဘောဒီးယား၊ လာအိုနှင့် ဗီယက်နမ်နိုင်ငံတို့မှ လေတပ်ဦးစီးချုပ်များသာ လူကိုယ်တိုင်တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ပြီး စင်ကာပူနှင့် ဖိလစ်ပိုင်နိုင်ငံတို့မှ လေတပ်ဦးစီးချုပ်များကတော့ ဗီဒီယိုမက်ဆေ့သာ ပေးပို့ခဲ့ပါသည်။ လက်ရှိ အာဆီယံအလှည့်ကျဥက္ကဌဖြစ်သော အင်ဒိုနီးရှားနိုင်ငံနှင့် မလေးရှားနိုင်ငံတို့မှ လေတပ်ဦးစီးချုပ်များကမူ လူကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း မတက်ရောက်သလို၊ ဗီဒီယိုမက်ဆေ့လည်း ပေးပို့ခဲ့ခြင်း မရှိသည်ကို တွေ့ရသည်။
“ASEAN Air Forces’ Cooperation for Sustainable Environment” ဖြင့် ဆွေးနွေးကြသည့် အဆိုပါညီလာခံတွင် ဒီပဲယင်းမြို့နယ် လက်ယက်ကုန်းရွာ စာသင်ကျောင်း ဗုံးကြဲခံရမှုဖြစ်စဉ်အပါအဝင် ကလေးငယ်များ ပညာသင်ကြားရာ စာသင်ကျောင်းများအား လေကြောင်းမှတဆင့် ဗုံးကြဲတိုက်ခိုက်မှုများ၊ ကချင်ပြည်နယ် အနန့်ပါဒေသဖြစ်စဉ်နှင့် ကန့်ဘလူမြို့နယ် ပဇီကြီးရွာဖြစ်စဉ်ကဲ့သို့ အစုလိုက်အပြုံလိုက် သေစေနိုင်သော လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုများ၊ ကရင်နီ (ကယား)ပြည်နယ်အတွင်းက စစ်ဘေးရှောင်စခန်းများအား ပစ်မှတ်ထားသည့် လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုများအကြောင်းကိုမူ ၎င်းတို့အနေဖြင့် ဆွေးနွေးဖြစ်ကြလိမ့်မည်မဟုတ်ချေ။
