Two local women were injured when the Myanmar army fired artillery shells at Banlaw village in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, according to locals and resistance forces.

The incessant shelling came after a joint local defense force attacked the police station in Bawdikan village on 26 July, residents said.

Due to the artillery shells landing in Banlaw village, two local women around 50 years old suffered shrapnel injuries to their legs and they were sent to a nearby rural hospital for treatment, according to local rescue members.

Locals and resistance forces said the Myanmar army shells villages with artillery on a daily basis in Tanintharyi Township where resistance forces are strong.

In June, three locals were killed and at least ten others injured due to artillery shelling by the military regime in the township, locals said.
