Right or wrong, the news of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers’ meeting that took place on 12 July has made headlines in the global media and triggered a series of follow-up questions. The revelation has led to much speculation, such as whether it was a collusion between the outgoing caretaker government of Thailand, Myanmar’s military regime and PanOrient News, which broke the news, to spread pure propaganda to the international community, or whether it was simply an attempt to drive a wedge between the Spring Revolution forces and the international community by using the image of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has often said she is on the side of the people.
