RCSS prepares for offensive against SSPP after talks with the military

June 7th, 2022

Military tension mounts, and fighting may erupt at any time as the Restoration Council of Shan State/ Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) is carrying out military activities in the Shan State Progressive Party/ Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA)-controlled areas after the peace talk with the military council, according to the SSPP/SSA.

On June 4th, the SSPP Info released a statement about the military activities of the RCSS/SSA in the regions where the SSPP is active.

Regarding the military tension, an official of the SSPP/SSA said: “Since late May, we have made preparations. Yesterday, three military columns invaded the areas near the military outposts where the SSPP/SSA troops are stationed. There was military tension two months ago as the Bamar military forced us to withdraw. I don’t want to recount the situations in 2015. What I can say is those places are important for us, according to the statement issued by the SSPP/SSA.

The SSPP/SSA Info is an official facebook of the SSPP/SSA.

On June 1st, the military columns led by Sai Mya, Sai Kar Lain and Sai Hlyan from the RCSS marched to Naunghlyan between Panglong and Lechar.

From there, they proceeded to Wanyein. The second military column led by Sai Hsaing Wan and Khu Htee is marching to the north of Wanpan people’s militia via Wansein, according to the statement.

The third military column of the RCSS is heading from Kunhein to Monglone and Naungtaung where the SSPP/SSA is active, according to the SSPP/SSA’s statement.

The SSPP/SSA has no desire to fight among Shan people. It has prepared for defense as the RCSS/SSA is carrying out military activities.

In the statement, an official of the SSPP/SSA said: “We need to clearly know who is our common enemy. The RCSS is a revolutionary organization like us. Fighting is taking place between the revolutionary organizations without the common enemy. It should not happen at this crucial juncture.

The spokesperson of the RCSS is unavailable for comment about the SSPP’s statement.

There was a military tension in April 2022 as a combined force of the RCSS/SSA, the military and the people’s militia force carried out military activities on Sanin Mountain near Panglong in Loilem District, where the SSPP/SSA was active, the SSPP says.
