“The military council’s administrative bodies are active only in downtown Chin State. The military is unable to control the rural areas. It is found that even the operations of the administrative bodies and departments face suspension.” Salai Htet Ni, Spokesperson of CNF.

An interview with Salai Htet Ni, Spokesperson of the CNF.

March 21st, 2022

The Chin National Front (CNF) was formed with the aim of reestablishing Chin State which can fully guarantee freedom, equality and self-determination and establishing a federal democratic union by rooting out all military dictatorship and regime.

March 20 is the 24th anniversary of Chin revolution day on which the armed revolution started. In its statement issued on the 34th anniversary of Chin revolution, the CNF said for the rehabilitation of social lives of Chin people and Chinland, the CNF would crush the military council by increasing the military activities and joining hands with local defense forces and its allies.

The KMG asked Salai Htet Ni, Spokesperson of the CNF about that matter and the current military affairs in Chin State.

Q: According to the statement issued on the 34th anniversary of Chin Revolution Day, the CNF said, for the rehabilitation of the social lives of Chin people and Chinland, the CNF would crush the military council by increasing the military activities and joining hands with local defense forces and allies. Can you explain to me about it?

A: As described in the statement, our Chin people have to suffer losses due to the military coup. For the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Chin State, we first need safety. For such safety, we are fighting against the military council. At the same time, we are working to ensure safety and overthrow the military dictatorship in cooperation with our allies and local defense forces. Doing joint military activities together with our allies, increasing military activities and making redouble efforts in the fight against the military council is the essence of the statement released on the 34th Anniversary of Chin Revolution Day.

Q: We will rebuild our mother Chinland. In doing so, regional administration, security and rule of law will be implemented step by step, the statement says. Can you explain about it?

A: We are building our own administration in Chin State in terms of townships and regions. The CNF’s ambition is to carry out the reconstruction and rehabilitation. There are regional administrative and security bodies born out of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH). Our Chin State has the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC). On the other hand, the NUG is present. Our work aims to reconstruct the lives of the public who face the plights in the wake of the coup.

Q: May I know the current military situation and the situation of revolution members?

A: Under the current circumstance, the local defence force, especially, we have formed the Chinland Joint Defense Committee (CJDC) in cooperation with the CDF. We are making joint military operations. There are armed conflicts in all nine townships of Chin State. Fighting with the military council is taking place near the towns and the roads linking between two towns. The military council is always trying to control the rural areas. We can fight against them. We can perform the military operations in all nine townships in Chin State in cooperation with the CJDC. The main point is the military council cannot control all rural areas.

Q: How about the military council’s current administration in Chin State?

A: As far as I study, the military council’s administrative bodies are active only in downtown Chin State. The military is unable to control the rural areas. It is found that even the operations of the administrative bodies and departments face suspension. It can be said that the military council’s administrative mechanism has collapsed.

Q: Do you have anything to add?

A: We are working to overthrow the military dictatorship. We are sacrificing our lives to build up a federal democracy we want. That’s why, we can achieve our goal only when we all continue our fight against the junta. Now, we are at the worst political crossroads. I would like to call on the public not to feel depressed and to continue their fighting till the end.
