An interview with Pu Htet Ni, Spokesperson of the Chin National Front (CNF)

Chin National Front (CNF) which has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) is an ethnic armed organization working with the objectives of the Spring Revolution—rooting out the military dictatorship and building up a federal democracy. The KMG made an interview with Pu Htet Ni, Spokesperson of the CNF about the CNF’s current work, affiliation with the National Unity Government (NUG) and assistance provided to the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) which are doing armed resistance against the terrorist military council troops.
Q: May I know the extent of the CNF’s work affiliated with the NUG? What is the CNF doing for Chin State?
A: We have the same goal with the NUG. To overthrow the dictatorship, abolish the 2008 Constitution and build up a federal union our ethnic people are longing for is identical. We have signed the agreement with the NUG on military and political affairs. The CNF is working on the recognition of the NUG by the international community. At the same time, the CNF is helping the NUG operate in the country politically. The CNF is working to help the NUG in terms of military and politics. At the same time, the CNF is affiliated with the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) in Chin State in addition to the NUG. We will continue working on how the Chinland government will carry out the interim administrative affairs. We are working collectively in the form of a federal union.
Q: At present, does the CNF get assistance from the NUG? What has the CNF on its part done for the NUG?
A: The CNF has not received any assistance from the NUG yet. We understand these affairs. The NUG is working for the country. The CNF is giving military training to the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).
Q: Do you have anything to add about the NUG?
A: Take a look at the country’s history, a similar event happened in 1990. The NUG is an organization which will take back power from the military council or the military dictatorship. So, the NUG is a very important organization in the current politics in Myanmar. The NUG is formed with those from the former government. The NLD is a winning political party which will lead in the formation of government. The NUG is very important. We all need to join hands with each other and work unitedly and collaboratively, regardless of races and religions.”
