Kayah’s CDM Police Officers vows they would together fight with the public

27 April 2021

CDM Police Officers stated that they would keep fighting together with the public, who were partaking anti-dictatorship movement, until the Democracy Movement won.

“We will keep on walking with the public under the instruction of NUG Government until the Democracy Movement won. We, whatever our bones break or our energy are vanished, will vigorously carry on the duties as much as we can – Perhaps our contribution is small just like a sesame or a drop of water or a brick or a flower of sand,” said one CDM policeman, who was deployed at District Police Force, Loikaw.

On 10 February, more than 40 Police Officers from Kayah State joined the civil disobedience movement together with and in the front of the public. Among them, police, police captains and traffic polices were also involved.

As they’ve been unwilling to work under the control of military junta and loathed the dictatorship, more than 200 policemen in Kayah State have joined CDM. If compared with national extent, Kayah State has reached the highest number of CDM policemen.

“Since the policemen are enduring with the public-paid salary, we are fighting the dictatorship together with the public. CDM is also an opportunity which can reflect our love upon the public,” said one CDM policeman deployed at Hpasawng Police Office.

“As I am living in Myanmar and standing for my survival through the public-paid salary, I should be dutiful for the public. We can say that this is the rare chance – we, the policemen, can show our love upon the public. In the other times, certain people had assumed us as good but some as bad – but now this is the only opportunity we can show our love. We should grasp this opportunity firmly. Our sincere mind is on the same side of the public. We are born from the public and we are the children of the public. Hence now we are fighting together with the public.”

Since February 10, according to the statements of policemen, CDM policemen and their families have been facing the challenge of food and shelter. Some CDM policemen are then warranted by sticking their photos on the obvious places and their houses are watched. They are facing the problems, worries or challenges such as the racial incitement and mental insecurity.

“This is the affair of the whole country, not the family matter. This is the national affair. How nervous I am, I’ve already determined to stand with the public firmly in spite of having the high risk because I am doing the right thing and the truth will prevail one day,” said one CDM policeman.

Though the military junta is recalling the CDM policemen to work, such policemen have already decided to walk until the end of the journey and now they ar e escaping into the safe places.

Since those who are performing anti-dictatorship movement were brutally attacked by military and police forces, 3 people have been confirmed dead in Kayah State until April 27.
