The Chinese government transferred six patrol boats to the military council on 11 June. The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar said in a statement that the vessels were supplied in response to a proposal made by the now-ousted National League for Democracy (NLD) government. 1

About eight officials from the Chinese Embassy arrived in Kyaukphyu by plane from Yangon on 8 June and inspected Chinese projects, including oil and natural gas pipelines, amid fighting in Arakan State. China has been mediating talks between the Arakan Army (AA) and the military council to end the ongoing fighting in Myanmar’s western state. 2

The Thai government announced on 6 June that it would issue pink ID cards to undocumented migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam in Thailand, allowing them to legally reside and work in the country.

On the other hand, Thai authorities have arrested around 3,600 undocumented Myanmar nationals who arrived in Thailand over the past three months. 3

On 10 June, Thai authorities and village officials raided the “Nway Oo Tamarn Revolution Support Group” office in Mae Ku, Mae Sot, Thailand, which was providing assistance to war IDPs and providing logistics support to resistance forces in Myanmar. 4

The Indian government repatriated 38 undocumented Myanmar nationals who were detained in Imphal jail in Manipur State on 11 June. Among those repatriated were ten children, eight women, and 20 men. They had come to Manipur State to work and some were war refugees. 5

In addition, refugees from Myanmar and other persons arrested for illegal immigration remain in Imphal jail. These individuals, who have not yet been released after serving their sentences, went on an indefinite hunger strike on 15 June to demand their immediate release. The authorities violently cracked down on the protest, injuring four Myanmar nationals. Ninety-seven Myanmar nationals reportedly took part in the protest. 6
