The  military council forces were active in Rar Hpu (Thit), Rar Hpu and Tharyarmun villages in Yebyu Township in Tanintharyi Region as of 13 June and sealed off civilian houses.

On 6 June, the military council forces raided the villages. On 9 June, they were stationed in the houses in the ward, locals said.

The military council sealed off two houses in Rar Hpu village, alleging they were linked to resistance forces. Now they are stationed in the houses, said a local from Yebyu.

“Soldiers are moving back and forth between these villages. They occupied the houses. Two houses were sealed off in Rar Hpu. The value of the seized houses is also considerable. They occupied the houses after transporting all belongings there by car,” said a local from Yebyu.

Junta soldiers are threatening to arrest local residents who support resistance forces, provide assistance, or aid them, he added.

“The army asked the displaced locals to return home and threatened to seize and burn the houses if they did not comply. Some IDPs opted to go back to their homes, while others hesitated out of fear. They assisted the resistance forces when they were present in the village. Now, they are afraid,” said the Yebyu local.

The military council forces are stationed in Rar Hpu (Thit), Rar Hpu and Thar Yar Mun villages. Locals remain displaced since the Mawrawaddy naval base fired heavy shells on 7 June.

In recent days, the heavy shells fired by the Mawrawaddy naval base landed and exploded in Rar Hpu (Thit) village, resulting in the deaths of a couple in their 40s, their months-old baby and a 10-year-old child.
