Over 85 members of Border Guard Force (BGF) were killed in a two-day fighting in Shwe Kokko of Myawaddy Township in Karen State on April 5 and 6, according to the statement by Lion Battalion Commando Special Forces (LBCSF) on the evening of 6 April.

Lion Battalion military column led by captain Eh Say Wah and a combined revolutionary force attacked the military council soldiers and the BGF members stationed in Hteewarpalaw and Htee Kaw Htaw villages in the Shwe Kokko region under the control of the military-backed BGF.

The strategic military column captured five BGF camps and seized more than 75 weapons.

Around 8,000 locals fled to Thailand during the two-day fighting by crossing Thaungyin River, said a person helping the IDPs told the Narinjara.

“We have opened six relief camps. We consecutively are providing aid as the IDPs continue to arrive till this evening. The IDPs are in need of drinking water as the weather is hot. Myanmar people from Mae Sot are making donations here,” he said.

The Thai army provides security for the IDP camps and helps with donations.
