Seven civilians were injured, and houses and churches were destroyed due to the military council’s unprovoked bombing of four locations near Kachin Independence Organization (KIO)-controlled Laiza.

“At around midnight on 7 August, the military council simultaneously Mai Sak Pa, Mong Lai Khet, Myo Thit and Kunglaw,” said Colonel Naw Bu, spokesperson of the KIO.

“Between midnight and 1 am yesterday, it is assumed that a Y-12 flight carried out the attack. The plane bombed areas around Laiza, with three bombs landing in the compound of the Kachin KBC church in Mai Sak Pa village, destroying the church and a nearby house, and injuring a pregnant woman’s right leg,” said Colonel Naw Bu.

At least some bombs dropped by the military council hit and exploded in Mong Sak Pa village. A few hours later, the aircraft flew over Laiza before bombing Mong Lai Khet village.

“The junta forces did not bomb Laiza; their aircraft merely flew over it. Around 1 am that day, the military council launched another bombing attack on Myo Thit and Kung Law villages,Ó said a KIA frontline source.

The junta’s airstrikes on Myo Thit and Kung Law villages seriously injured seven civilians, with six of them sustaining severe wounds.

In March, the KIA and allied forces took control of Myo Thit and Kung Law villages on the Myitkyina-Bhamo road, which were previously under KIO control.

For the past six months, the military council has lost hundreds of camps, including strategic ones. In response, they have continued to bomb areas controlled by the KIO.
