Founded – 1963, 1976, January 1992, January 2009 Headquarters – Namhsan Township Areas of Operation – 17 townships in northern Shan State and Mandalay Region Chairman – General Tar Aik Bong Vice-Chairman – Brigadier General Tar Jok Jar General Secretary – Brigadier General Tar Bone Kyaw Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064235945809 Website – https://www.taangland.org/ The most recent and visible change is that during “Operation 1027,” the PSLF/TNLA played a leading role with its allies in the Three Brotherhood Alliance. At the same time, it also led the charge against the military junta by bringing together the People’s Defense Forces/ Local Defense Forces (PDFs/LDFs) that emerged during the Spring Revolution. During the first and second phrases of “Operation 1027,” the PSLF/ TNLA captured and controlled 12 towns from the military junta, including Mong Long, Namhsan, Namkham, Manton, Namtu, Mongngawt, Kutkai, Nawngkhio, Mogok, Kyaukme, and Hsipaw. Despite being in negotiations with the junta’s representatives through the mediation of the Chinese government, the PSLF/TNLA is determined not to give back the towns and territories it has captured. The Ta’ang Political Consultative Committee (TPCC), which has been consistently involved in the Spring Revolution aiming to end all forms of dictatorship, including the military dictatorship, was reorganized into the Ta’ang Land Council (TLC), which has been elevated to the highest authority during the Ta’ang Land Revolution. General Tar Aik Bong, the Chairman of the PSLF/TNLA, is now the Chairman of the TLC. The TLC, which is intended to lead and oversee the three pillars of the Ta’ang Land administration: the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, has stated that it will form a Ta’ang Land People’s Revolutionary Government within the next six months, based on the territories cleared of the military junta. It has also stated that it will cooperate with resistance forces across Myanmar to establish a federal union. While the formation of the Ta’ang Land Council (TLC) led by the PSLF/TNLA is a clear sign of progress for the revolution in the Ta’ang region, it also faces significant challenges, including ethnic issues in the region, pressure from the Chinese government, and the military junta’s increasing aerial attacks. Due to these airstrikes, the TNLA had to relinquish control of Nawngkhio, which it had held for more than a year, back to the military junta. Nevertheless, the PSLF/TNLA is expected to continue its efforts toward building a future federal democratic union with the Ta’ang Land Council (TLC), the highest authority during the Ta’ang Land Revolution.
