The number of death toll has increased in Salin Township in Magway Region due to three consecutive days of airstrikes by the military council from 23 to 25 July, according to locals.
A local reported, “Today, the junta conducted airstrikes targeting civilians. The exact number of casualties cannot be confirmed yet.”
The military council conducted airstrikes on Nga Hlaing Twin village On 23 and 24 July and Khaungku village on 25 July, locals said.
Locals reported that the military council launched multiple rounds of bombings and fired machine guns. On 23 July, airstrikes by the military council resulted in the deaths of five people, including a monk, and injured 13 others.
On 24 July, the junta’s shootings wounded Ko Kyaw Win Htut and his wife Ma Nu Nu Htwe, who are working in Nga Hlaing Twin oil well in Salin Township from Minbu and Daw Ohn Yin from Ta Nyaunt Tin village in Salin Township. Ko Kaw Win Htut is in critical condition, locals said.
Until around 1 pm on 25 July, locals reported that the military council conducted airstrikes on Gaungku village. The exact number of casualties is currently unknown.
According to the spokesperson of the Minbu District People’s Defense Force (PDF), the military council is conducting airstrikes on villages in Salin Township because they don’t dare to advance there by land.
