Date of Formation – 11 March 2021 Chairman – Tu Shan Secretary – Gum San Nsang Constituent Groups – 5 Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/KachinPICT In July 2022, the KPICT suspended its participation as a permanent member of the NUCC, citing several reasons, including the need to re- discuss some definitions within the Federal Democracy Charter and the necessity of consulting with the Kachin public. However, some of the KPICT’s representatives remain in the NUG, and coordination and dialogue between the CRPH and KPICT have continued. On 20 January 2024, the CRPH announced that it had met with the KPICT to discuss efforts to ensure the success of the current revolution, potential challenges, and future cooperation. 11 The “Interim Agreement” between the CRPH and KPICT was signed on 27 May 2021. The agreement states that both sides will coordinate on matters related to implementing an interim Kachin regional government. Additionally, both sides agreed to implement prior verbal agreements moving forward. Despite KPICT’s suspension of membership in the NUCC, its relationship with the CRPH and NUG remains strong and robust. On 31 July 2025, KPICT and CRPH held an online meeting to discuss military and political matters crucial to the success of the revolution, as well as processes for enhanced cooperation and potential future collaborative efforts. 12 During these meetings, KIO/KIA senior leader General Gun Maw is frequently present, and the KIO/KIA’s prominent leadership role is evident in the Central Command and Coordination Committee (C3C), a critical military coordination body within the Spring Revolution. Despite sharing the same goals as other revolutionary forces—the eradication of military dictatorship and the establishment of a genuine federal democratic union—its existence and operational style are distinct. The role and leadership of the KIO/KIA within the KPICT remain a wildcard, making the KPICT an group to watch. 11.
