It has been observed that the military council committed atrocities during 13 months of the coup, with no regard for the interests of the Myanmar people. The military council brutally committed violent crackdowns on dissidents and carried out arrests and tortures of civilians across the country. Tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced by the military council’s excessive use of forces and weapons including airstrikes against the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and Ethnic Armed Revolutionary Organizations which have taken up arms against the military.
