The Washington IDP camp in the western part of Demoso Township, Karenni State, is in urgent need of aid, said officials from the IDP Committee.
The Washington IDP camp is in urgent need of food supplies as no donors have arrived since January 2025, according to the IDP Committee.
An official from the IDP Committee said, “In 2025, with no donors coming to Washington IDP camp, the IDPs are facing serious hardship. Now, they are in even greater trouble as commodity prices have risen.”
They are in dire need of food. The rain is pouring down. They also face a shortage of food. They feel deeply depressed,” he said.
An official from the IDP committee reported that the Washington IDP camp is home to 115 households and 476 people, all of whom were displaced from villages in Loikaw Township.
“Most of the IDPs fled due to Operation 1111,” the official said. “The majority are from Daw U Khu, Hmaing Lone, Htu Du Ngan Tha, and Bangkok villages in Loikaw Township.”
The displaced people are also in urgent need of basic food and shelter.
Fighting continues as a result of the junta’s ongoing offensives, while transportation challenges persist across Karenni State. The region is also struggling to import essential goods, including fuel.
As a result, the region is experiencing a fuel shortage and rising commodity prices, worsening the hardships faced by displaced people.
