Two locals from Tedim who travelled to Hakha of Chin State by motorcycle are missing between Falam-Hakha and have lost contact with their family members for 10 days.

On 2 May, Ma Kyin Hauk Wone, 37, from Lwalbwar ward in Tedim and U Hlyan Za Tun, 32 from Hakha went to Hakha by a motorcycle via Falam in order to renew the former’s passport. Their family members are worried as they have lost contact with them since the evening of 2 May.

“Now, I have not been able to contact them for ten days. She went to Hakha to renew her passport. Those who went to Hakha ahead of them arrived there. She and the motorbike driver go missing. When asked by the family members about the two missing people, soldiers and youths replied they know nothing. We don’t know how to search for them. I don’t know whether they are dead or alive. I am very concerned,” a person close to them said.

A few days ago, documents and clothes of the missing people were found by travellers on the roadside near Talanyown new village. They returned the properties to the persons close to them in Hakha.

Falam-Hakha road was closed for around one month due to the battles between the military council and the Chinland Defense Forces (CDFs). Currently, the people have to use a detour. They went missing near the military camp.

The journey from Hakha to Falam takes just over two hours. The person who wants to travel on Hakha-Falam road by motorcycle has to pay MMK-100,000-150,000.
