Locals from Pazigyi village in Kanbalu Township of Sagaing Region who, experienced the military council’s deadly airstrike are facing mental and physical health problems and are in need of emergency assistance, said U Min Thit, information officer of the Emergency Response and Rescue Committee (Temporary).
“Villagers don’t dare to stay in their homes. We are hiding in the forests. They are very afraid even to meet our rescue team. They are scared. Even some villagers said they want to kill themselves. The facts about the informants are kept in their minds. Some villagers are very scared.”

“Around 400 people are hiding in the forests after the deadly airstrike. Some villages close to Pazigyi village don’t dare to stay. It is like a damaged village. They are in big trouble. Some children are even afraid of the voices of motorbikes following the airstrike. They are suffering from a big mental problem,” said U Min Thit continued.
On 11 April, the military council conducted an airstrike at the opening ceremony of the Public Administration Office in Pazigyi village of Kanbalu Township when around 800 people gathered.
“The major requirement is drinking water. They also are in urgent need of huts, rations and medicine. Some people are hiding in forests. According to the initial figure, the total number of the IDPs has exceeded 400. There are no battles and military columns here. This is the targeted attack on the civilians,” he said.
U Nay Phone Latt, Spokesperson of the National Unity Government (NUG) said: “The NUG is providing mental and physical health care to the victims who are affected mentally and physically with the allotment of the budget. Especially, they suffer from mental health problems. The victims want to kill themselves as there is only one member left in a family. They suffer very big trauma. We continue to implement the counselling program for them.”
The airstrike in Pazigyi village killed 168 civilians. Among the victims are 40 children aged below 18, according to the list released by the NUG.
The military council again conducted an airstrike while the people collected and cremated the dead bodies. That airstrike also resulted in casualties, according to the news source on the ground.
