An elderly person was killed and at least six others including a child wounded in the junta’s airstrike in Thayargone village in Banmauk Township of Sagaing Region, according to locals.
At around 12 am on 12 April, the military council’s jet fighter dropped bombs more than eight times and Mi 13 dropped 12 bombs at around 1 pm, a local from Banmauk told the Kachin News Group (KNG).
“There was no clash there. Six people from the village were wounded. The elderly woman was seriously wounded. She died when she arrived at the hospital. The bombardments hit and destroyed a village monastery, a rest house and more than six houses,” the local said.
At around 11 am before the airstrike, the People’s Defense Force (PDF) ambushed the advancing military column between Pinhinkhar and Thayargone villages.
The military council suffered casualties. In response to it, the military council conducted airstrikes, according to the statement by the Banmauk Revolution (BR).
Thayargone village is located about six miles from the west of Banmauk Township.
