The military council’s airstrike killed one civilian and wounded another in Namhsan in northern Shan State.

At midnight on 12 August, the military council carried out a targeted airstrike on civilians, according to the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA).

“That night, the junta dropped bombs. It took place between 11 and 12 PM. They dropped three times, totalling six bombs. The junta targeted the ward and the EPC office. A man died on the spot when the bomb hit the EPC office,” a local said.

Namhsan is currently under control of the PSLF/TNLA.

The junta dropped three times totalling six bombs on 12 August —one at 11.31 pm, another at 11.45 pm and the last at 11.51 pm, according to the PSLF/TNLA.

A local from Namhsan said: “They dropped bombs while everyone was asleep at midnight. All the people were asleep at midnight. The houses near the EPC office and transformers were destroyed. There has been no active fighting in the area. It can be considered that the bombing was deliberate, as there was no active fighting at the time. I think the junta bombed it as it is a town under control of TNLA.”

The Three Brotherhood Alliance (3BHA) has recently urged the international community to halt the military council’s airstrikes on towns and villages where there is no ongoing fighting.

The bomb landed and exploded in the compound of EPC office in Myo Lae ward in Namhsan, killing a 30-year-old local and wounding another person.

The bombing damaged and destroyed transformers in the compound of the EPC office, Myoma Monastery, and five nearby houses.

On 6 August, the military council bombed Kutkai, killing six civilians and wounding ten others.
The airstrike burned down over 400 houses and shops, the PSLF/TNLA says.
