Local residents report that on 12 November around noon, the military junta conducted airstrikes in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, dropping three bombs at the Kyee Wa Dam junction and two bombs on Kywe Chan and Lel Ma villages.
This is reportedly the first time the junta has conducted airstrikes in Pwintbyu Township, as it restricts movement of displaced people from nearby villages.
A local resident stated, “They came with MI-35 and fired. Three bombs at 3-Mile, two bombs at Kywe Chan. They’re still circling now, so we don’t know the situation yet. We’re investigating the damage.”
In addition to restricting movement of displaced people, on 12 November, junta troops reportedly used civilians from Sin Lu village as human shields, requiring one person per household to accompany their advance toward Kywe Chan and Lel Ma villages.
On 9 November, approximately 50 junta soldiers arrived at the Me Za Li village police station in Pwintbyu Township. They carried out attacks on villages west of the Pathein-Monywa road using drones and artillery, injuring some civilians, according to locals.
Furthermore, the People’s Defense Force (PDF) reports that until 11 November, these junta troops were engaged in surveillance, reinforcement, and construction of bunkers and trenches along the Pathein-Monywa road.
In Pwintbyu and Sidoktaya Townships, nearly 2,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs), including residents from Kywe Chan and Lel Ma villages, are in need of shelter, food, and medical supplies.
