Mawrawaddy Naval Base arrested two people who opened a motorcycle repair shop in the village of Kanpauk village in Yebyu Township in Dawei District of Tanintharyi Region, according to villagers.
The two detainees are: Ko Aung Khet,40, from Hlekone No.1 ward in Kanpauk village and Ko Paing Paing, 30 from Hlekone No.2 ward.
Many soldiers from Mawrawaddy Naval Base, arrived with three military vehicles and arrested them at their homes, at around 11 pm on 30 November.
“After surrounding Ko Aung Khet’s house, they broke through the barbed wire on the fence and entered it. After hours-long inspection at the house, the junta soldiers abducted him at 2 am. Then, Ko Paing Paing was arrested at his house,” he said.
The duo is being detained and interrogated at the Mawrawaddy Naval Base. Those close to the detainees said that the family members were ordered not to travel during these days when they were arrested.
The villagers said that Ko Paing Paing was summoned and interrogated twice by the Mawrawaddy Naval Base after the military coup.
The duo has not been allowed to meet their family members. Until 4 December, they have been in detention. Family members are worried about them.
Mawrawaddy Naval Base is based in Ohn Pin Kwin village. Soldiers from the naval base usually arrest and interrogate the villagers when there are explosions and attacks around the Kanpauk area.
