The military column from the junta conducting a raid in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, has arrested and killed four civilians and burned at least 15 houses, according to residents.
Since 28 August, over 200 soldiers entered Sa Khan Gyi, Tha Bawt Seik, Pyin Gyi, Hpwar Boke Pyin, and Bu Chai villages in Launglon Township in two columns.
During the raids between 30 August and 2 September, the military column arrested and killed villagers along the roads.
Residents said the military council soldiers arrested and killed U Kyaw Than, U Phoe Aye and U Ba Shwe in their 50s from Bu Chai village and a local man between Sun Taung Paw village and Hpwar Boke Pyin village, residents said.
The victims were ordinary farmers and vegetable growers. Residents believe the junta soldiers killed them because they could not provide information about the locations of the resistance forces.
According to residents, the military column burned down at least 15 houses in Hpwar Boke Pyin, Bu Chaing and Pyin Gyi villages and took more than 20 motorbikes.
Over 5,000 residents from Bu Chai, Kha Maung Taung, Htein Twin, Sa Khan Gyi, Tha Bawt Seik, Pyin Gyi, Kyauk Sin and Ka Yin Gyi villages have fled to safer places due to the military council’s raids on these villages. Currently, they have been unable to return home.
