Ten children were killed and 51 injured in three states in Myanmar within one month due to airstrikes by the military council, according to a report by Network for Human Rights Documentation-Burma (ND-Burma).

Ten children in Kachin, Karen and Shan States were killed and 51 injured in November due to air strikes by the military council, according to ND – Burma spokesperson Hsan Htwal.

Hsan Htwal said, “The aerial bombing this month affected IDPs sheltering at a camp church. Those who died were entire families, including children. Children are the most affected, with more casualties among them.”

According to ND-Burma, the airstrikes by the military council occurred during the early morning and evening hours, when people traumatized by the war were sleeping or resting.

The military council is conducting targeted attacks on tea shops, populated areas, and communities, including temporary shelters for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and IDP camps in the region.

The junta’s increased airstrikes have led to a rise in civilian casualties.

“The main thing I want to say in this statement is that more and more people are dying due to aerial bombing in Myanmar, especially in ethnic areas. Civilian casualties continue to rise every month and every day because of these airstrikes. Over the course of one or two years, the number of civilian casualties has significantly increased,” Hsan Htwal said.

Hsan Htwal said, “Among those killed and injured are women and children. Due to the junta’s indiscriminate attacks on both civilian and military targets, the people have continued to endure damage, loss, and fear.”

On 15 November, the junta’s airstrike on a Christian church in Kone Law village in Momauk Township in Bhamo District, Kachin State killed nine civilians including seven children.

A local man from Momauk said, “The actions of the military council lack humanity. In Kachin State, the Kone Law church incident, the Anan Par incident, and the Mung Lai Hkyet incident are historical facts and undeniable evidence. Not only I, but our Kachin people, will never forget these tragedies.”

According to the ND-Burma’s statement released on 10 December, there were 25 airstrikes in Kachin, Karenni (Kayah) and Shan States in November. The strikes resulted in the deaths of 25 adults and 10 children, while 27 people were injured—23 adults and 51 children.

Similiarly, the junta’s airstrikes destroyed at least 77 buildings including one church, one moanstery, one hospital, one teashop and five government offices and six vehicles.
