A man and a child were injured due to the junta’s airstrikes and shelling of Innet village in Kyaukkyi Township, Nyaunglebin District, Brigade-3 of the Karen National Union (KNU) for two consecutive days, according to local residents.
On the morning of 1 March, two heavy shells fired by the military council struck Innet village. Later in the evening, the junta launched an attack on the village using a Y8 drone. According to residents of Innet, the drone bomb exploded in front of a house, injuring a man and a 3-year-old child.
A local man from Innet village said: “U Thaung Myint and his grandson, who lived in front of the house where drones were hit. His grandson got wound to his leg. He has been sent to the hospital as he is seriously injured. His leg may need to be amputated.”
On 3 March, the junta once again fired heavy shells into Innet village from the heavy shell hilltop camp in Sin Ma Taung and the Nat Than Kwin camp, according to locals from Innet village.
A man from Innet village said, “At around 8 pm on March 3, the junta fired three rounds of shells into Innet village. Then, at around 10 pm, another shell was fired. The shells landed in villages near Innet. They came from Kyaukkyi and Natthankwin. This morning, the situation is stable.”
In early March, the junta shelled Na Ywe Pin and Kyoet Kone villages, along with Innet village, causing civilian casualties, injuring domestic animals, and destroying houses and religious buildings, according to news sources from Kyaukkyi.
Local residents reported that there was no fighting between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and junta troops in Kyaukkyi Township on the days when the junta targeted civilians.
According to a statement from the KNU (Central), a junta airstrike on 1 March killed a displaced woman in Mone Township, Nyaunglebin District.
