The military junta has tightened security in Salin Township, Magway Region, after positions occupied by junta troops in Salin town were attacked, according to residents and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Salin.
The Salin Township Police Station’s central guard post building, the combined government office building, and the Lin Zin Police Station were all reportedly attacked on the morning of 24 May.
In addition, the Lin Zin police station in Salin Township sustained damage to its buildings after being hit by heavy weapons.
Regarding the tightened security following the attacks, an official from the Salin Township PDF said: “The junta has brought in more troops and is patrolling and inspecting the town. Many villages have also been displaced.”
The attacks on the Salin Township Police Station’s central guard post building and the combined government offices lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with the junta reportedly sustaining casualties.
Following the fighting, additional troops from the junta’s Infantry Battalions 253 and 254 have reportedly been deployed to Salin town and are conducting patrols.
The military junta has been conducting military operations in Salin Township for 12 days, leading to frequent skirmishes.
These clashes have forced people from over 10 villages, and there is a reported need for food supplies.
