Six civilians including a five-year-old child were killed by the military council’s airstrike on Let Yet Ma village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, according to residents.
At around noon on 6 September, the military council’s jet fighter dropped four bombs in two separate attacks and fired machine guns three times, residents said.
Residents reported that the military council deliberately targeted the school where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were taking shelter, despite there being no active fighting in the area.
A resident stated, “There was no active fighting, yet the military intentionally targeted the people. All family members were killed in the attack, except for the father.”
The junta’s airstrike hit the houses adjacent to the school. The attack killed six people including a five-year-old child and a young boy who had taken the matriculation exam and wounded five others, residents said.
On 5 and 6 September, the military council intentionally bombed the Bangkok IDP camp in Pekon on the border between Shan State and Karenni State, as well as Namhkam in northern Shan State. The bombings killed at least 19 civilians and wounded many others.
