At least 30 houses were burned down in incendiary attacks by the military council in Moebye on the border of Shan State and Karenni (Kayah) State in March, according to the Sub-Military Region of Southern Shan Military Region.
An official from the No.1 Headquarters of the Sub-Military Region of Southern Shan Military Region stated that, in addition to aerial bombings and shelling, the military council’s Moebye-based battalion is primarily using incendiary weapons.
An information officer from the Southern Shan Military Region (Sub) said, “Three to four houses are burned each day. The main cause of these fires is the attacks using incendiaries. Moebye-based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB)-422 is responsible for firing the incendiary devices.”
Since December of last year, the military council has been waging a fierce offensive to retake Moebye town, deploying manpower, weapons, drones, heavy artillery, and conducting aerial bombings. It has now been four months since the offensive began.
Both the No.1 Strategy of the Sub-Military Region of Southern Shan State and the resistance forces are actively resisting the junta troops. As of now, the resistance forces continue to maintain control over Moebye town.
Fighting in Moebye during March has intensified compared to previous months, with both sides suffering casualties. The resistance forces have issued a warning to civilians, urging them to stay vigilant around the town due to the ongoing daily clashes.
