CDF – Asho vows action against threats to basic education teachers

Chinland Defense Force(CDF)-Asho issued a statement on 19 May stating that it will take action against those who threaten and harass basic education school teachers.

The CDF-Asho issued this statement saying that action will be taken if any threats, obstruction, arrests, or interference in school affairs and teaching activities are carried out against teachers in the hill and plain villages of Ngaphe Township, Magway Region,

CDF-Asho official Salai Yoe Chin said: “Since the right to education has been lost not only during the four years since the coup but even before that, our main message is this: we, as an armed group, will not interfere with the education sector. There is no need for education staff to fear us.”

The area adjacent to CDF-Asho’s active area is said to be underdeveloped and has had difficulties with transportation since before the coup, making it difficult for teachers to access.

This statement was released with the intention of addressing the current situation where school-age children are losing access to education due to ongoing conflicts, the absence of teachers, and an insufficient number of teaching staff — all of which have led to school closures.

CDF-Asho also appeals to basic education staff to teach school-age children independently, with dedication, passion, and sacrifice.
