At least 10 military council soldiers were killed in an ambush attack by an unknown armed group on a military vehicle near Zeebin village near Gokdwin Bridge in Naungcho Township in Shan State, at around 12 pm on 4 August, an eyewitness driver said.

“I saw the bodies of 10 dead soldiers beside the car. The car is found near the bush. Our vehicle was also shot. No one was hurt. The shooting hit the cars,” the driver said.

It is still unknown in detail which armed organization carried out the ambush.

“The military council carried out reinforcement by sending three military vehicles via Naungcho, following the ambush. The bodies of those killed in the attack were collected by the military council. The road is not closed. When the fighting took place, the people had to stop for a while,” the driver continued.

The military council troops, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) are active in Naungcho Township.
