Over 20 houses were burned down in Nyaung Pin Kwin village, Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, due to aerial bombing by the military council, according to local residents and officials of the Township defense force.
According to locals, at around 5 pm on 17 February, the military council carried out four aerial bombings on Nyaung Pin Kwin village.
Officials of the township defense force reported that over 20 houses, including a library, were destroyed in the aerial bombing, although there have been no reports of civilian casualties.
On the morning of 17 February, before the junta’s aerial bombing of Nyaung Pin Kwin village, heavy fighting erupted between the military council and the joint revolutionary force near both Nyaung Pin Kwin and Thein Khun villages.
Nearly all residents of Nyaung Pin Kwin village have been displaced due to the ongoing fighting and the junta’s airstrikes.
Fighting has been ongoing daily since 18 December, as the military council has been trying to regain control of the Mawtaung-Tanintharyi road section.
