Junta airstrikes on Mindat leave 9 buildings including churches destroyed

The military junta conducted heavy airstrikes on a village in Station Area 3 of Mindat Township, Chin State, on 6 November, using 500-pound bombs among other weapons, resulting in the destruction of approximately seven houses and two churches, according to local residents.

The sources report that, during the airstrikes carried out at around 2:11 am on 6 November, the military used 500-pound bombs along with rockets and .50 caliber guns.

A resident of Mindat said, “The damage to homes and churches is severe. We’re still inquiring about potential civilian casualties. We’re also waiting for more detailed information.”

Similarly, on 5 November at around 1:40am, the military conducted two airstrikes near Mindat town using fighter jets, dropping more than four bombs and employing .50 caliber guns, according to locals.

Previously, on 19 August, the junta’s bombing of Hpwi village in Mindat Township had damaged a Seventh-day Adventist church and some buildings.

According to a Chinland Defense Force-Mindat statement, in October, the military conducted nearly 80 airstrikes in Mindat Township using fighter jets and Y-12 surveillance aircraft.

These air attacks resulted in the deaths of three CDF-Mindat fighters, while another member died in a vehicle accident.
