Fierce fighting is taking place as the military council has launched an offensive to recapture the strategically important hills occupied by the Chinland government forces, between Hakha-Thantlang in Chin State.
On 13 October, the military council dispatched reinforcements in seven military vehicles from Hakha to support troops stationed at the Timit Valley, approximately five miles from Hakha.
Since the morning of 14 October, intense fighting has erupted in the C3 area, currently held by Chinland government forces, according to the Chin revolutionary Forces.
“At around 8 am on 14 October, the military council carried out attacks in C3 area in Timit and Tita. We still don’t know details of causalities,” said an official of Chin revolutionary force.
After Chinland government forces captured junta bases—Auto Mountain, Lonekhar Mountain, Keivanzuang, and C3—between Hakha and Thantlang in July, the fighting in that region had subsided.
The military council has launched this counter-offensive to recapture strategically important areas between Hakha and Thantlang.
In the first week of October, just before the offensive began, the military council sent reinforcements of weapons and ammunition to Hakha town using helicopters.
“The key issue is that Thantlang serves as the last line of defense for Hakha. Capturing Thantlang would put us at significant risk. Falam and Thantlang are overseen from the strategic HQ in Hakha. If we take Hakha, Chin State could achieve liberation. The junta must secure Thantlang if it hopes to maintain control over Hakha,” stated an official from the Chin Revolutionary Forces.
On 13 October, the military council carried out multiple aerial bombings on Timit and Thantlang town using a Y-12 plane. On 14 October, they conducted similar attacks.
