Data Collection and Methodology

  • Source: BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor
  • Methodology

Number of PDF: Data are collected from Local and foreign news agencies, and 15 media organizations associated with Burma News International.

Armed Clashes: Recorded as one event per day per township based on news reports.

Fatalities:

  • Military Deaths: Number of deaths of soldiers, police, Pyu Saw Htee members, and BGF members during the event.
  • PDF Member Deaths: Number of deaths of PDF members during the event.
  • Civilian Deaths: Number of deaths of unarmed civilians during the event.

Key Statistics

  • Total Number of PDFs: The total number of People’s Defense Forces across various townships in Myanmar.
  • Total Number of Armed Clashes Between MA and PDFs: The number of conflicts between the State Administration Council (SAC) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
  • Total Number of Fatalities: The total fatalities recorded, including Military Deaths, PDF Member Deaths and Civilian Deaths.
