24 junta camps captured in two days, TNLA says

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced that it has captured 24 military council camps within two days of the renewed fighting between TNLA and the military council force in northern Shan State.

Fierce fighting is ongoing between the military council and a combined force of TNLA and MDY-PDF in Hsipaw, Kyaukme, and Nawnghkio in northern Shan State, as well as Mogok and Moemake in Mandalay Region. This comes after Operation 1027 resumed in the early morning on 25 June.

According to the statement, the TNLA captured Narikekhan, Sakhanthar, peace hill, No.352 artillery hill, Ingyinkaing, upper golf course, General Administration Office and police station in Kyaukme Township, and Light Infantry Battalion-115, police station, Kantkaw, Khaesmon, Kyaukkyan, a hospital, a toll gate, factory, railway station, Shwenyaungpin and Ohnmatee camp.

Lway Yay Oo, spokesperson of TNLA, stated, “Currently, the camps are still under our control. The military council is conducting continuous airstrikes and providing artillery support. They are also targeting civilians, violating the Haigeng Agreement and attacking our territories.”

Likewise, the TNLA captured Daw Nan Kyi hill the strategic hilltop camp, Shwetharyar, Panthabyay and Phyuyaungkone in Mogok Township.

Regarding the battle in Kyaukme, a local resident reported, “Heavy shells have landed in the wards of Kyaukme. The shelling left four members of a family dead and many people injured in Yat Kin. The fighting continues.”

During a two-day battle, the TNLA seized 24 junta camps across Kyaukme, Nawnghkio, and Mogok Townships. The TNLA also confiscated the bodies of 20 junta soldiers killed in the conflict.

The TNLA also captured 17 junta soldiers who surrendered in Kyaukme Township along with the seizures of two 60-mm motors, six medium machine guns, two RPG-7 launchers, one sniper rifle, five pistols, five mines, 60-mm grenades and RPG grenades, military equipment, 59 assorted arms and weapons and a large quantity of ammunition.

During the two-day battle, six civilians were killed and 18 others were injured due to heavy shelling and aerial attacks by the military council.
During “Operation 1027,” which began on 10 October 2023, the Three Brotherhood Alliance captured more than 20 towns and over 400 large and small military bases of the military council.
