People’s Defense Force (PDF) said they buried the bodies of over 40 soldiers killed in the fighting in Nyaungshwe Township in Shan State as the military council did not collect them for over two months.

On 13 April, all members of a military column were killed in the fighting between the PDF and military council force between Nyaung Lay Pin and Yaepu villages in Nyaungshwe, said an official from Bees Column.

“All members from the military coumn were killed on that day alone. We buried the bodies of junta soldiers yesterday,” he said.

Over 40 military council soldiers were killed in the fighting. The Bees Column and the Central Special Operation Team jointly collected and buried them as the military council did not collect the bodies of soldiers killed in the fighting for over two months.

Currently, the military council is trying to launch a counter-offensive against Pekon on the border between Shan-Karenni (Kayah). At the same time, the military council is active in the west of Inlay, the offical from the Bees Column continued.

“At present, the military council is active in the west of Inlay. I think the junta is trying to enter Pekon. We are not too concerned. There could be counter-offensive after the completion of military training. Even when we had no weapons and they were still strong, we managed to overcome the challenges to the best of our abilities. We need more unity and compassion,” he added.

Over 1,000 IDPs remain displaced due to the fighting in Nyaungshwe Township.
