Six civilians killed in junta’s bombardment on Kone Thar village in Loikaw

Six civilians including a child under five were killed by the military council’s bombardment in Kone Thar village in Loikaw Township in Karenni (Kayah) State on the afternoon of 20 April, according to locals.

“The bomb directrly hit the house. The junta dropped two bombs at a time,” a local said.

Those killed in the bombardment are: an 80-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman, a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl.

All the victims are the family members in a house. The bombardment also wounded 10 others and destroyed around 20 houses in the village, he continued.

Fighting is taking place in Moebye-based Light Infantry Battalion-422. There is no report of fighting near Kone Thar village, an another local said.

“It has been many days since those from Kone Thar returned home. Fighting occurs only in Battalion-422,” the local said.

Three people including a three-year-old baby were killed and five others wounded by the military council’s aerial bombardment in the western part of Pekon Township on the night of 11 April although there was no fighting on the ground.
