An administrator who was persuading people to join the army in Salin Township of Magway Region was shot dead, according to local residents.
On the night of 18 March, U Myint Htoo, the military-appointed administrator from Pakhettaing village, was shot dead by the Salin Township People’s Defense Force (PDF) while he was urging young people to serve in the military with a loudspeaker.
The PDF took action against him as the administrator was calling up the youths amid our warnings.
An official of Minbu District PDF said: “The people are suffering from the military council’s tortures in our district and township. We will prevent it by any means.”
In addition to this, he urged the people to cooperate with the PDF in order to take action against those who are oppressing and torturing the people.
U Myint Htoo was identified as a military target as military equipment was found in his hand, an official of the PDF.
One hand-made pistol and one Icom Walkie Talkie were seized from administrator U Myint Htoo, the revolutionary force said.
