Former police officers who have joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) have invited the remaining police officers and soldiers of the Myanmar’s military junta to stand with the people and join the CDM.

In a video released by the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) titled “Voices of police officers who have joined the CDM with their arms and ammunition”,” female police officer Wut Hmone Phoo, who joined the CDM from Bawlakhe Township police station, said:

“It’s all about your own choice. You have to make the right choice. I won’t regret my decision. If anyone still wants to join, please do. I want to apologize to the people for joining late.”

The CDM affairs department of the KNDF has been carrying out these initiatives to welcome the soldiers and policemen of the military junta who have joined the CDM, through People’s Embrace.

In the past three months, up to seven military junta police officers from the Bawlakhe Township police station and the district police station joined the CDM, along with their weapons and ammunition. They have been allowed to move freely and given financial rewards, the KNDF explained.

In the video released, CDM soldier Nye Reh said: “I no longer wanted to serve the military dictatorship. Since I am also a member of the Karenni (Kayah) ethnic people, I had long wanted to join the ethnic side. But I had to stay longer because of certain circumstances and my family. I didn’t want to stay any longer and finally decided to join.”

The KNDF has been inviting soldiers serving under the military junta to join the revolutionary forces as fighting intensifies in Karenni State.

The KNDF has assured that CDM participants will be provided full human dignity and security.
