Head of Kade middle school shot dead, Palaw Township

Daw Su Latt Phyu, the principal of Basic Education Middle School, Kade village, Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, was shot dead at her home, local residents told Than Lwin Times.

According to reports, the principal, who lived in Magyikone village, was gunned down by unknown gunmen at around 1 pm on 25 May.

She was killed on the spot and found with bullet holes in her head and face.

The principal had worked in the township’s education office after completing her training before the reopening of Kade village middle school.

Local residents said Daw Su Latt Phyu had been promoted to head of the middle school after the military coup.

After her shooting, pro-military Telegram channels spread propaganda that the principal had been shot by a group of about 15 members of the People’s Defense Forces.

Than Lwin Time was unable to independently verify the details of the shooting.

In the more than two years since the military coup, nearly 400 civilians have been killed, according to a local research group.
