Laung Lon People’s Defense Force (LLPDF) said it seized ammunition following a shooting between a local armed drug force and the LLPDF.
The LLPDF got information that the force is involved in drug trafficking and is shooting guns inside and outside the village at night every day, in a compound at the edge of Hnyinmaw village.
An official of the LLDF said: “We conducted a surprise patrol to check whether the tip-off is true or not. We have a plan to arrest and take action against them.”
The PDFs got a tip-off about the armed drug force which was rampant near Hnyinmaw village in Launglon Township. The shooting took place when the patrolling PDFs encountered a group of five armed men, at 9.15 on 18 April. In the encounter, the LLPDF told them to surrender. However, the drug force started shooting, the official of the LLPDF said.
The drug team withdrew as the LLPDF fired shots.
The LLPDF seized a gun, two Tumi guns, a gas gun, gunpowder, 409 WY tablets, an axe, six knives and swords, a motorcycle, three mobile phones, a power bank, 50,300 MMK and related materials used in drug consumption, according to the statement.
The PDF did not suffer any casualties, an official of the LLPDF said.
In an attempt to eradicate narcotic drugs in Launglon Township, the PDFs will expose and take action against those involved in the drug trafficking. The PDF will expose the armed drug force, the statement says.
