Resistance forces attacks military outposts in Myawaddy, Kawkareik and Kyondoe

At least 26 junta soldiers were killed and eight arrested alive in separate raids on the military council’s outposts in Myawaddy, Kawkareik and Kyondoe Townships in Karen State on 25 and 26 March, according to the statements by the Cobra column and the Lion Battalion Commando Special Forces.

On the early morning of 25 March, the Cobra column raided Thingunnyinaung police station and the border trade zone. Eleven junta soldiers were killed and eight police members including the deputy police major and family members arrested alive, according to the statement by the Cobra column.

According to a statement by the Lion Battalion Commando Special Forces on 28 March, it attacked Light Infantry Battalions-545/546 based in Kyondoe, Kyondoe police station, Gyaing bridge, the soldiers stationed in the compound of Ngartaing middle school and the Border Guard Force (BGF) camps on 25 and 26 March.

From around 7.30 am on 25 March to 26 March, the two-day fighting in Kyondoe killed at least 15 junta soldiers and wounded many others. In addition, three comrades from Lion Battalion Commando Special Forces were also killed in the two-day fighting, according to the statement.

Due to the ongoing fighting, some vehicles are stranded, according to locals.

A local said: “Till now, the Asia Highway from Myawaddy to Kawkareik roadsection remains closed due to the ongoing fighting. Small vehicles are running on the hilly road carefully.”

The White Tiger military column led commander Kyaw Thet issued a letter warning the public to avoid travelling between Myawaddy and Kyondoe Townships as the military situation has been complicated since 25 March.

The military council conducted airstrikes on the combined Karen forces near Myawaddy, Kawkareik and Kyondoe.
